For 53 years the Northside Lions have been steadfast in meeting the commitment of all Lions adhering to the motto : “WE SERVE”. Lions across the world act in local groups to seek out all forms of community need and develop ways to serve and satisfy those needs. Initially called “Knights for the Blind” by Helen Keller, they continue to aid the sightless and promote sight conservation. And, today, they do that and so much more.
Core service comes through their Texas Lions Camp, provided at no cost, to physically
disabled and diabetic children, the Lions Sight Research Center, The Lions Low Vision
Center and its Mobile Eye Screening Unit, all established in collaboration with the
UTHSC, and numerous other Lions District 2-
The Northside Lions directly support many individual children and families in need
and act as a mini “united way” working hand-
100% of all funds raised are donated to charitable organizations.
Wherever there is need in the community Lions are there. Lions Clubs are located in 205 countries around the world and are first on the scene whenever disaster strikes. Working through the Lions Clubs International Foundation, all Lions are able to lend immediate support to those communities where an earthquake, flood, or tornado might have occurred, by funneling that support through their Lion brothers and sisters who live in those communities.
Lions Clubs are always looking for good men and women with serving hearts to join their Clubs and bring that special passion that they have for their own special cause. Come and join us for lunch, any first or third Thursday of the month at noon at Little Italy Restaurant, 824 Afterglow and see how the Northside Lions have changed the motto to “We Serve and Have Fun Doing It”.
